Surrounding yourself with the right people does not just apply to the Christian life, but also in every aspect of life itself. In order to be successful you must surround yourself with the right people that encourage, push and help direct you in the way you feel called. When you surround yourself with the wrong people you ultimately end up going in the wrong direction.
“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14 NKJV).
What constitutes the right people? Older people are always a good source to start with as they have been there and done that. Older people can help you greatly by steering you clear of short cuts that do not work and areas of work that do not fit your criteria. Listening to older, successful people can be a wonderful asset in your career as well as general life as they provide insight that most younger folks have not yet experienced or just do not quite understand at the time.
Younger people too provide a great service of long term friendship and help as well. As a younger guy myself I know I enjoy the companionship of other youngsters that are in the similar stage of life as me. We can converse about certain areas of trouble and relate greatly where as a older person sometimes finds difficulty remembering back that far.
As younger companions we are all growing and moving through this life at around the same rate and when we are all set out to succeed in life as well as lend a helping hand in times of need, we can ultimately all provide a great service in our own lives as well as those around us.
Surrounding yourself with like minded, success driven individuals both young and old is crucial when aiming to become the best that the good Lord intends you to be. Sometimes we do not even have to go looking for people as the Lord grants us family and friends around us with success driven attitudes and great character that can help us get to where we need to be and what we need to be doing. Go ahead and surround yourself with like minded people and watch the growth extend not only in your life, but in the lives around you as well. God bless!
