Going the distance requires focus, strength and heart. It is easy to give up and quit and just settle. We are called to be content in all situations while striving to be the best in Christ we can be by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. We are called to live a life that glorify’s God to the utmost through the talents and abilities He has blessed us with. In order to live up to these callings we must be willing to go the distance and strive on till the end.
“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13 NKJV).
No matter how tough things get or how much persecution we may face, we are called to endure to the end. We are to go the distance for God by relying on Him completely for strength. When we focus on Him and put our whole heart into what He has called us to do, we then tap into the full capacity of His calling and the utilization of our talents and abilities.
This full utilization of talents and abilities, not only comes from our focus, full heart, faith and reliance on Him, but also through the endurance of time. The more we go, the longer we strive, the more we utilize and conquer. We are not just called to live out our purpose through a short season, but rather our entire life all the way till the very end.
“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.” (1 Corinthians 9:24).
A great example of going the distance is by looking at champions within different sports. What separated them from the rest of the field? The answer is the same for us; focus, full heart, faith, and enduring till the end. They believe in their God given talents so much so that they work harder than everyone else and continue on even when the going gets tough.
Jesus said we would have tribulation here on earth, but to be of good courage because He had overcame the world. If we truly believe this we should then apply this to our everyday life by telling ourselves that God is for us, so who can be against us? We need to believe and know that we can overcome any and every obstacle the devil or the world throws our way, and to also see what God is teaching us through the obstacles.
Obstacles are necessary for growth and learning and the more we press on, the more we will learn and grow in God. It is when we give up or when we look at the obstacles as giants that we stop growing or excelling and ultimately do not glorify God through our talents and abilities. Believe you me, there are always times of doubt as we are all human, but it is how we handle the doubt that determines the outcome. Either we can listen to the doubt and believe it, or we can shut it out and listen to faith instead; the choice is ours.
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith.” (1 John 5:4).
No matter how tough things get, if we feel the call of God upon our lives, then we must continue you. We must persevere in the Spirit and know that we are overcomers in Christ Jesus. When we start viewing obstacles as opportunities of growth, we will then excel and ultimately bring glory to God. God has called us to endure till the end, whether that be our life or the return of Christ, and endure we must while completely relying on Him. Let us keep faith, keep focused and keep God at the center of everything we do while putting our full heart into it and praising God for His goodness. Keep going and keep loving.
