The problem with much of today’s people, both old and young, is the issue of having no roots. Today I witness many that once were proclaimed Christians now going to and fro chasing after the next new fad. “What belief is everyone following now?” They ask themselves while searching for that new high of religious (or non-religious) ecstasy. Jesus spoke of these people when He spoke about the seeds falling on the different grounds:
“But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.”
Matthew 13:20-21 NKJV
We must be quick to set roots in Christ and to build on the only foundation that is eternal. Each day we need to soak up the word of God as nourishing food for our souls and allow it to take deep root within our hearts and minds. And every waking morning we should start our day with prayer and set our sights on the only One that provides eternal salvation and that can give us eternal life. Look not to your right or left, but always keep your sights set on Jesus Christ and let His Spirit and Word fill and transform your life.
