Our culture today glorifies the amplification of emotional expression while disregarding the necessity and validity of empirical evidence. The emphasis on emotional expression and the constant need to acquire validation, entertainment and stimulation is the very essence and nature of immaturity. This scenario was accurately predicted approximately 2,000 years ago by Paul in his second letter to Timothy:
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
II Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV
Not only has this corruption taken over our secular culture, but it has also seeped in and devoured much of the modern day church as well. The constant emphasis on grace apart from the necessity of growth and transformation has nestled comfortably within the pulpit. The falsified conceptualization of a judgment free environment where sins of various kinds are nullified, and in some cases almost entirely extinguished from the minds of those that occupy the pews.
When churches are applauding and elevating homosexuality and transgenderism as an example of godliness and courage, we have not only allowed sin to overtake us, but essentialism of biblical facts is but a byword. If the church is so easy to accept sin, or to accept radical ideologies that underlie such movements as Black Lives Matter, what makes one think we will not just as easily accept the antichrist’s coming with the same applause and elevation?
